East Central Oklahoma Health Center Partners with SUNRx to Offer
Prescription Discounts Through Government 340B Program

Wetumka, OK and Bensalem, PA East Central Oklahoma Family Health Center (ECOFHC) today announced a new program in partnership with healthcare technology company SUNRx that will provide discounted prescription drugs to low-income patients in Wetumka and the surrounding area.

“We provide care for many patients who need expensive drugs to treat conditions such as high blood pressure, cardio-vascular disease and cancer,” said Donna Dyer, Chief Executive Officer of ECOFHC, which was founded in 2008.  “The 340B program will help families in east central Oklahoma afford the medications they need.”

Created by the federal government to expand access to affordable medications, 340B programs discount medications up to 60% below retail prices through qualified community health centers and hospitals.  Despite the need, many community health centers have limited 340B programs – or none at all – due to the program’s complexity.  SUNRx’s fully automated solution helps health centers manage 340B programs, reduce paperwork and provide more effective patient care.

ECOFHC’s patients are not unlike those nationwide who struggle to afford medications.  In a recent study by the Kaiser Foundation, more than a quarter of Americans said they have not filled a prescription because of the expense, and nearly one in five said they cut pills in half or skipped doses in an attempt to save money.

In addition to providing affordable, quality preventative and primary health care, ECOFHC has helped the community in many important ways.  “Wetumka was a town on the brink of extinction.  But since the health center opened, there has been a new sense of hope and pride,” said Dyer.  “Our clinic is serving as a catalyst for the town’s rebirth, and our ability to offer affordable health care, including discount medications, will continue to help attract families and jobs to Wetumka.”

“SUNRx is proud help Wetumka patients afford medications, especially at a time when too many Americans are struggling to make ends meet,” said SUNRx CEO Tim Liebmann “By making the 340B program easy to administer and simple to use, we are working hard to ensure that both the health center and community see benefits from this partnership for years to come.”
